The Orlando International Airport, or MCO, is located in
Orange County, Florida and is approximately 6.8 miles from the central business
district of Orlando. MCO is the largest and busiest airport in the state of Florida,
and was ranked as the 22nd busiest airport in the world in 2008 by the Airports
Council International, having served a total of 35,622,252 passengers that
year.
Orlando International Airport is a focus city of both
Southwest Airlines and JetBlue Airways, and it serves as a hub for Air Tran
Airways, who has its corporate headquarters and operations center at MCO. There
are four main passenger terminals at MCO with a total of 97 gates. There are
two terminal parking garages and topside terminal parking. Both are
conveniently located near the terminals. But there are other parking options at
MCO as well, depending on how long you plan to stay at the airport.
The Cell Phone Lot
The Cell Phone Lot offers free short-term parking for
passenger pick-up. Park at the lot, wait in your car for passengers to call,
and then pick them up at the curbside baggage claim area.
Satellite Parking
Satellite Parking lots are not as near to the terminals as
the Terminal Parking Garages, but a free Orlando
Airport Shuttle transports passengers from the
satellite lots to the main terminals. Satellite Parking rates are $4 for the
first 3 hours. After 3 hours, the daily $10-per-24-hour-period rate applies.
You can park at the Satellite lots for up to 120 days. If you park for 10
minutes or less at the Satellite Parking lots, you don't have to pay anything.
Terminal Garage Parking
The rate for Terminal Parking is $1 for every 20 minutes,
with a maximum daily fee limit of $17. You can park at the Terminal lots for up
to 60 days. There is a 40 minute grace period, however, whereby if you exit
within 40 minutes of entering the parking garage you pay nothing. There are a
total of 9,300 parking spaces at the Terminal parking garages, most of them
under cover and all within easy walking distance of the main terminals.
Curbside Drop-Off
If you simply want to drop off passengers, you can do so for
free at the curbside check-in section on the Departures Level on either side of
the Main Terminal building.
Off-Site Parking
If you can't find parking at Orlando International, or if
you simply want to save a few dollars on long term parking, you can opt to park
at one of the privately operated off-site parking lots. These are located a
short distance from the airport and most offer a free airport Shuttle
Services in Orlando Florida to customers. The rates for offsite
parking can be as low as $4.50 a day.
